AI/ML Junior Engineer

What we're looking for:

• Based in Lisbon, ready to join the team IRL everyday
• Hunger to learn and build. Fast
• Background in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, AI/ML, or similar (university, bootcamp, self-taught... we dont care)
• 1+ year experience working on real AI/ML projects (internships, side projects, research okay)
• Solid Python + experience with LLMs (even via Hugging Face, LangChain, or similar)
• Comfortable working with ambiguity, shipping MVPs, and iterating quickly
• Strong Git habits, clean code, and curiosity for infrastructure

The mission

This role is focused on building the architecture of a highly complex and demanding AI-based product. You will be part of the core engineering team and will be challenged to think, help, design and most importantly, develop the architecture of an AI model.

The outcomes

The engineer will gain exposure to LLM orchestration, hallucination mitigation, and the productization of AI in real-world systems. Overachievers will own key components of the AI stack and prototype new approaches to proactive, non-hallucinating models.

• Successfully onboarded into the Comudel infrastructure, understanding the core architecture of GLAM and its auxiliary tools.
• Assist in integrating open-source LLMs (e.g., LLaMA, Mistral) into our AI pipeline.
• Contribute to dataset curation and fine-tuning experiments with supervision.
• Debug and optimize inference pipelines for CAI's real-time usage.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and contribute clean, documented code.
• Collaborate with backend and devops to ensure model deployment is robust and scalable.
• Own a component of the AI stack (e.g., task planner, legal hallucination filter, or RL feedback loop).
• Build automated testing and evaluation pipelines to continuously benchmark CAIs performance.
• Work with product and legal teams to refine CAIs business rule engine and develop domain-specific reasoning.
• Contribute to Comudels patentable IP through innovative solutions to proactive task generation and regulatory compliance via AI.
• Suggest and implement improvements to existing ML models or inference efficiency.
• Support the expansion of AI features to other regulatory geographies beyond Portugal.
